Antique French Gargoulette Terracotta Water Jug

Available is a beautiful semiglazed terracotta jug. This antique French gargoulette was used to hold wine or water in the Mediterranean regions and is in excellent condition for its age. 

The earthenware pitcher is made of terracotta, with the top half glazed in an attractive Provencal yellow. The bottom half is unglazed. It has the original lid attached with twine, a single spout, and large rounded handle.

There is a small chip on the lip of the lid, and a small chip on the handle. View photos.

A rare antique piece to find on this side of the Atlantic.
