Antique Ironstone Plate with Historic Staple Repair, c1880

Available is an antique ironstone plate with a stunning historical staple repair. This piece would display beautifully back or front and is a testament to previous generation's desire to salvage and restore valuable pieces.

The pattern is "Bosphorus" by J. Marshall and Co, and production dates to between 1867-1895. The front design brown transferware shows an Eastern-inspired scene, with intricate floral trim. Back of the plate has an impressive backstamp, with the words "Bosphorus" and "J. Marshall" inside a curved ribbon next to an anchor.

A large crack shows back and front, with pitting in the front. Three heavy staples present in the back. Heavy staining and crazing throughout.

DIMENSIONS - 9.25" diameter; weighs 1 lb. 2 oz.
