Antique Pink and Blue Double T Quilt, c1900, 82" x 68"

This is a unique antique pink and blue quilt in near-perfect condition with hard to find fabrics antique fabrics.

MATERIALS - The quilt is in a Double T patchwork pattern. The sashes are made of beautiful zig-zag double cinnamon pink fabrics. The patchwork blocks have white ground fabrics with small prints - small red stars, pink florals, or Lancaster blue prints.

The Double T patch fabrics are an amazing array of indigo, burgundy, shirting fabrics, plaids, and double pinks in print designs I've never seen anywhere else. View the close up photos for a wonderful study in early 20th century fabrics. The quilt is hand pieced and hand quilted in dense Baptist fan quilting across the entire quilt, at a stitch per inch of 5-6 with white quilting thread.

The real treat comes to the backing - a vibrant vermicular print in rosy pink and sage green. Printed backing with this design is very unusual and coordinates beautifully with the front of the quilt. The binding is machine finished and self-bound (with the backing fabric folded over from the back onto the front and machine stitched). The batting is medium weight cotton.

CONDITION - There is one small area of discoloration, pointed out in a photo, and one area of fraying on the binding. No other flaws noted. This quilt was washed by the previous owner and has not been washed by me. It is free of odors.

AGE - Exact age unknown. The quilting and fabrics are consistent with quilts made circa 1910s.

SIZE - It measures 82" x 68" and would fit a modern twin size bed or be perfect as an accent piece or displayed on a wall. This is a quilt for a serious collector looking for high quality quilting in unusual fabrics. This quilt was photographed on a king size bed.
