Antique Burgundy Lone Star Quilt, c1900

Available is a fabulous two-tone quilt that demands attention. This would be a wonderful folk art display piece for a wall, as the pattern is visually dynamic.

MATERIALS

The quilt is constructed in the Lone Star (or Star of Bethlehem) pattern, with one large eight-point star surrounded by eight smaller floating stars. Fabrics are burgundry red for the star and shirting fabrics of white ground with tiny black prints for the setting and alternate fabrics. Excellent piecing, hand quilted in white thread in Baptist fan pattern. Lightweight cotton batting. Backed in white fabric; bound in shirting fabric.

CONDITION

Good antique condition. Small tear near one corner. Scattered storage stains and some fading noted along the center fold line. It has not been washed. Please see all photos.

Exact age and maker unknown. Estimated c1900 based on fabrics and techniques used. Found in Kansas.
