A stunning antique quilt in good condition with a beautiful mix of highly desirable fabrics, this 1800s quilt would be a perfect addition to your quilt collection or hung as a wall display quilt in a primitive-inspired home.

MATERIALS - The quilt is made in the Devil's Claw pattern (also known as Idaho Beauty, Cross Plains, or Botch Handle). The patches are a mix of cheddar orange, double pinks, brown and fugitive purple prints with some fading, mid-1800s floral prints, and deep indigo blue with white resist patterns, set in plain blocks of shirting fabrics with a small black print on white ground.

It is hand pieced and hand quilted with white thread at 8-9 stitches per inch in a diamond crosshatch pattern. The backing is white muslin. It has lightweight cotton batting. It is bound front to pack with the shirting fabric.

CONDITION - Overall good antique condition. Minimal fraying to the binding. There are 6 patches with fabric thinning and loss and some exposed batting. A few light spots and toasting to the lighter fabrics, as well as a tan area on the backing. Some thinning of the batting noted upon inspection of the back. See photos.

AGE - Exact age unknown. Based on fabrics and quilting, this quilt is estimated to have been made circa 1890.

SIZE - 82" x 62" - perfect for a twin size bed, or folded on the foot as an accent blanket.

This is a vintage item with normal wear and tear due to its age. Review photos and descriptions carefully. I have made every effort to accurately describe these items. Message me with any questions you have before making a purchase.
