Antique Chinese Stoneware 6" Chinoiserie Gray Ginger Jar with Blue Decoration

Available is a large 19th century Chinese stoneware ginger jar in excellent antique condition. This round ginger jar is made of light grey stoneware with blue-gray brush work decoration. Underglaze pitting and wear noted; see photos. Unusually large size, perfect for displaying floral stems.

This jar was dug up from an old Victorian dump site in England. Countless jars of preserved ginger stems were exported to England from China in the 1800s, where they were discarded once used.

A lovely historical piece with rustic character and patina.
