Antique Pyramids Variation Unfinished Quilt TOP, c1870

A feast for the fabric lover, this dynamic quilt top has a wide range of calico prints to study and enjoy.

MATERIALS

The quilt top is in a Pyramids variation pattern, with sets of 1.5" triangles set against central hexagon blocks of dark indigo blue print, which anchors the design. The fabrics show madder brown, tiny prints on white ground, indigo blue with chrome overlay, striped dress prints, conversation prints of animals, and more. It is hand pieced in white and brown thread. There is no batting, backing, or binding.

CONDITION

Good antique condition. Several storage stains noted, with a few seam separations. A few blocks appear to have some adhesive remnants on it. It has not been washed. Please review all photos.

AGE

Exact age unknown. Likely constructed circa 1870, with some older c1850 fabrics included. Found in Merriam, Kansas.

Measures 72" x 64".
