Antique New York Beauty Quilt TOP | Rocky Road Red Green Cheddar and White Unfinished Quilt

An amazing unfinished quilt top, this rare pattern is executed in beautiful red and faded green tones.

MATERIALS

The quilt top is in the Rocky Road or New York Beauty pattern, in red, white, and fugitive green solid cotton fabrics, with cheddar fabric making up the solid centers of the starbursts. It is mostly hand pieced in white and brown thread, with occasional anchor stitching done with machine. There is no backing, batting or binding.

CONDITION

Good antique condition. There are scattered holes, storage stains, and seam separations. It does not lay completely flat. The green has faded, with mottled coloring in several spots. See photos for details. I have not washed it.

AGE

Exact age unknown. Likely made circa 1860s, based on fabrics and techniques used.

Measures 76" x 76".
