Antique Turkey Red & Green Primitive Basket Quilt, c1860

Available is a primitive red and green basket quilt with early vegetable-dye fabrics and loads of country charm.

MATERIALS

The quilt is in the basket pattern, with Turkey red and white baskets set in vegetable dye-green solid fabric. Backed in white muslin. Lightweight cotton batting. Hand quilted in white thread, with triple bar quilting along sashing. Hand bound in white muslin.

CONDITION

Fair antique condition. Suitable for display. Overall green fabric has some fading, typical for dyes of this period. Significant wear along the binding, with some shredding to the front edge and back, with fabric loss in some patches. Staining along the back fold line. Please review all photos.

Exact age and maker unknown. Found in Kansas. Estimated date c1860 based on fabrics used.
