Antique String Lemoyne Star Quilt | Scrappy Stacker Display Quilt
Antique String Lemoyne Star Quilt | Scrappy Stacker Display Quilt
This beautifully worn quilt is ready to display in your home, with a rod pocket on the back. The variety of fabrics and prints used is sure to please the antique quilt enthusiast.
MATERIALS
The quilt has nine blocks of stars made of thin strips of fabric, set in white fabric with tan sashing. The binding has significant wear, with brown binding and some black fabric strips that were probably a later repair. White muslin backing. Medium weight cotton backing. A white rod pocket is sewn on to the top edge on the back. Hand quilted in Baptist fan pattern. Also present is a note from the previous owner, stating the quilt is an 1880s String Quilt purchased from Julie Silber, a quilt appraiser in Berkley, CA.
CONDITION
Fair vintage condition. Binding is worn. Several areas of exposed batting present. One whole cloth hole. This has not been hand washed; I do not recommend laundering due to the extent of fabric wear.
AGE
Exact age and maker unknown. Likely made c1880s, due to fabrics and techniques used.
SIZE
Measures 75" x 68". Note it was photographed on a king size bed.
This is a vintage item with normal wear and tear due to its age. Review photos and descriptions carefully. I have made every effort to accurately describe these items. Message me with any questions you have before making a purchase.
