Antique Wild Goose Chase Quilt with Provenance, c1930
Antique Wild Goose Chase Quilt with Provenance, c1930
Available is a stunning quilt in red, white and blue with full provenance. This quilt was made by Emma Louise Ziegler, and the maker's story will be included with the quilt.
MATERIALS
The quilt is constructed in the Wild Goose Chase pattern, with tiny triangles set with white fabric. Circle hand quilting in white thread. Fabrics are lovely mix of indigo, cadet blue, red, and ginghams. Backed in white fabric. Binding is indigo print. Lightweight cotton batting.
CONDITION
PLEASE NOTE - This quilt has significant color issues. A blue ink or chalk was used to mark the quilting lines, and it has remained after washing. There is also significant red dye bleed from the burgundy fabrics. Also noted are some dirt lines that did not completely wash out. I did not wash this quilt, but a previous owner did attempt to clean out, which is what caused the lines and dye bleed. Otherwise, fabric is tight and intact. Please review all photos.
AGE
Exact age of the quilt unknown. The maker lived 1902-1994. Fabrics and construction consistent with c1930 quilt.
