Vintage Pink and White Sateen Rose of Sharon Applique 1930s Quilt, 84" x 66"

This faded beauty has lush quilting and applique details. Despite its wear, it still makes a soft feminine statement piece in a cottage-inspired bedroom, or can be repurposed for crafting in so many ways.

MATERIALS

This quilt was constructed with pink, green and white sateen fabric that has lost much of its sheen. There is overall fading to the colored fabrics. It is hand quilted in many different styles with feather wreaths and borders, grid quilting, and hand appliqued Rose of Sharon motifs and ribbons along the borders. It is hand quilted at 9-1 stitches per inch in white thread. The backing is solid white, and it is bound with white fabric. It has lightweight cotton batting.

CONDITION 

Overall fading as mentioned above. One area of seam separation in an applique block. Several light stains and spots on back and front, pointed to in the photos. One small snag in the backing fabric. Overall good vintage condition. This has been carefully hand washed and air dried.

AGE 

Exact age unknown. However, based on fabrics and techniques used, estimated date is circa 1930.

SIZE 

84" x 66" - modern twin size, or perfect to use as accent blanket on a larger bed or couch.
