Vintage Green and White Goose in the Pond Quilt

An expertly handstitched quilt in simple blocks and beautiful emerald green color.

MATERIALS

The quilt is constructed in the Goose in the Pond pattern in emerald green and white. The squares in the nine patch corners are 1/2" each. Parallel grid quilting over the blocks in white thread at 10 stitches per inch. In the white alternate blocks, clamshell quilting present, and cable quilting in the sashing over a double line border of emerald green. Binding is matching green fabric. Backing is solid white. Lightweight cotton batting.

CONDITION

Excellent vintage condition. There is one mend in an alternate block with an open seam. A few very light marks on the back. Otherwise clean and intact. It has not been washed but is free of odors.

AGE

Exact date unknown. Based on fabric and technique, estimated date made is circa 1930. It came from a private quilt collection in West Des Moines, IA.

Measures 70" x 67".
