Vintage Meadow Daisy Applique Quilt in Blue, Pink and Green, c1930

An exquisite applique quilt in an unusual colorway and delightful details.

MATERIALS

The quilt is constructed in the Meadow Daisy applique pattern, with nine applique blocks, surrounded by a vine and bud border, with four small bouquets in the setting blocks. 

The fabrics are solid deep pink, blue, green, and orange, set on white cotton fabric. Hand quilted in white thread, with pencil marks still visible. Note that in the corners on the right side, there are pencil marks showing where the maker had intended to add additional buds but never completed them.

Very lightweight thin cotton batting. Solid white backing. Binding in white.

CONDITION

Excellent vintage condition. One very small brown mark on back. Otherwise clean and intact. It has not been washed but is free of odors.

AGE

Exact date unknown. Based on fabric and technique, estimated date made is circa 1930. It came from a private quilt collection in West Des Moines, IA.

Measures 99" x 87".
