Vintage Melon Peach Medallion Patchwork Quilt, c1920

A lovely peach lightweight quilt with a graphic display of fabrics and blocks.

MATERIALS

The quilt is constructed in a unique patchwork medallion pattern, featuring a central diamond set in trianges at the corners with an outer border of patches and squares in each quilt corner. The setting fabric is a light peach or melon colored cotton, typical of c1920 fabrics. There are also some early indigo blue prints. 

Backing is off-white cotton, with a solid white patch over one corner. Off-white binding. Hand quilted in white thread in X pattern over the patches and cable quilting in the setting and sashing. Lightweight thin cotton batting.

CONDITION

Good vintage condition. One small mend in the setting fabric. Small mark near top border. A few popped quilting stitches. See photos. Otherwise clean and intact. It has been carefully hand washed and air dried.

AGE

Exact date unknown. Based on fabric and technique, estimated date made is circa 1920. It came from a private quilt collection in Kansas City, MO.

Measures 76" x 74".
