Vintage Scrappy Ocean Waves Quilt with Yellow Setting Blocks, c1950

This well loved vintage quilt is in a desirable pattern and bright midcentury dress fabrics, making it the perfect blanket for cuddling.

MATERIALS

The quilt is constructed in the Ocean Wave pattern, with a wide range of midcentury dress fabrics. It is set in solid yellow fabric. The hand quilting in white thread echoes the blocks. Binding in yellow fabric. Solid white cotton fabric on backing. Medium weight cotton batting. 

CONDITION

Good vintage condition. Significant overall red dye bleed to the backing, giving it a pink overtone. Bleed is not apparent on the front. Some loose seams on binding. Brown marks noted on back. The quilt has been gently hand washed and air dried. Batting shift present. 

AGE

Exact date unknown. Based on fabric and technique, estimated date made is circa 1950. It came from a private quilt collection in Kansas City, MO.

Measures 80" x 69".
