Vintage Yellow and Blue Eight Point Star Quilt, c1950s, 79" x 76"
Vintage Yellow and Blue Eight Point Star Quilt, c1950s, 79" x 76"
An adorable midcentury farmhouse quilt with eight point star patchwork and a bunny rabbit print in the setting blocks. This would be perfect in a child's bedroom folded over a bed or hanging on a wall.
Please note - this came from a cat friendly home and is not recommended for those with cat allergies. See CONDITION below.
MATERIALS
The quilt is in an eight point star pattern. The star patchwork uses a mix of solid and printed cotton fabrics, set in white. The alternate blocks are a cute bunny print on a yellow ground. It has dark blue hand-finished binding and is hand quilted with white thread and machine pieced. There is lightweight polyester batting, and the backing is solid white fabric.
AGE - Exact age unknown. Based on quilting, pattern, and materials, this is estimated to be made circa 1960. It was found in the small rural town of Moline, Kansas.
CONDITION
This quilt has been carefully hand washed and air dried. There is a large area of sun fading, especially noticeable on the yellow bunny print fabric. There is one small tear in a patch on the front with exposed batting that would be easy to mend. Light scattered dye run noted on brown printed fabric. One small brown spot on front. Light wear along binding.
NOTE - this came from a home with a cat. Although I have carefully washed this quilt and removed whatever cat hair I can see, there are occasional cat hairs working their way out of the batting. I do not recommend purchasing this quilt if you have cat allergies.
SIZE - Measures 79" x 76"; would fit a modern twin bed, or can be used as an accent bedding.
