Vintage Yellow and Green Rose of Sharon Applique Quilt, c1930

Available is a stunning, collector's applique quilt with exquisite hand quilting and beautiful colorway.

MATERIALS

The quilt is constructed in the Rose of Sharon applique pattern, popular in the 1930s. Layered roses in dark and light yellow with green buds emerging from each of the four leaves are hand appliqued. Swag border with rosettes along the edge, with a triple border in yellow and white. White setting fabric, white backing, lightweight cotton batting. 

The hand quilting sets this piece apart. Each alternate block features an intricate quilting pattern in white thread echoing the applique blocks. Grid pattern along the borders. Expert craftsmanship.

CONDITION

Excellent vintage condition. It has been carefully hand washed and air dried. One small storage mark. Otherwise no flaws found.

AGE

Exact age and maker unknown. Estimated date c1930 based on fabrics and techniques used. Found in Kansas.
