Vintage Yellow Dresden Plate Quilt with Blanket Stitching, c1930

A cheerful classic pattern with unusual stitching over the blocks and bright spring colors.

MATERIALS

The quilt is constructed in Dresden Plate pattern, with scalloped edges and unusual black blanket stitching over the seams. It is bordered with alternating wedge blocks, creating a wavy border. Setting fabric is light cream color. Blocks are a lovely mix of c9130 bright prints. Hand quilted in white thread with flowers in the center of the plates and throughout the setting. 

Bound back to front with bright yellow cotton. Lightweight cotton batting.

CONDITION

Good vintage condition. There are several blocks with loss of the blanket stitching. Light to moderate wear on the binding. See photos. Otherwise clean and intact. It has been carefully hand washed and air dried.

AGE

Exact date unknown. Based on fabric and technique, estimated date made is circa 1930. It came from a private quilt collection in Kansas City, MO.

Measures 89" x 72".
